About Lucas House Family Services

Lucas House was founded by Maria Petty in honor of her late son, Lucas — a child whose strength, resilience, and spirit inspired a movement. Maria’s advocacy led to the creation of the Lucas Petty Act, landmark legislation that expanded protections and services for medically fragile foster youth across Washington State. Lucas House Residential LLC was born from that same love and determination: a promise that no child with complex needs should ever go without a safe home, specialized care, or a community that believes in them.

Today, Lucas House continues that legacy by operating specialized residential homes designed to meet the unique needs of medically fragile and developmentally disabled youth. With a growing network of healing homes and strong partnerships — including North Star Family Services — Lucas House is expanding its impact and opening new doors for children who deserve nothing less than safety, stability, and hope.
